Mark Walford has been training since 2014 when he took over from his father, Tim Walford at the family farm based at Sheriff Hutton close close to York.
Mark had rode over 80 winners as a point to point and amatuer jockey before spreading his wings to the training ranks.
He started his training career as Pupil Assistant to Mick Channon before moving back to Yorkshire to work as John Quinn’s Assistant Trainer for two years before making the move to work in the family business as an Assistant in 2008.
Having taken over the trainer’s licence in February 2014, it continues to be a family business with Tim and Gill still being an integral part of the team and Mark’s wife Molly taking charge of the office.
Mark has bulit upon his parents’ hard work and achievements. He is expanding the yard in size and quaility and the yard has seen success with horse under both codes.
